Meet Jennifer Hicke
BSCPT, MCPA, CERT.MDT
An evidenced based treatment approach built upon scientific research is fundamental to her practice.
As such Jennifer keeps up to date with current medical publications and continues to participate in postgraduate education.
Jennifer is credentialed with the McKenzie Institute International as an MDT (Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy) Practitioner.
She has many years of experience treating Orthopaedic, Sports Injuries and Post Operative patients.
The clinic and Jennifer are credentialed as a Complete Concussion Management (CCMI) treatment facility.
Concussion patients can undergo Baseline testing, Assessment and Rehabilitation of their injury. Jennifer also has training in the exercise management of Oncology patients.
Nawal is currently in her 4th year as a Kinesiology student at York University with plans to become a physiotherapist. She has worked in patient rehabilitation for over 6 years and thoroughly enjoys the patient care aspect of her work. On a personal level, Nawal enjoys spending time with family, cooking and playing various sports such as flag football and volleyball. Nawal will be joining our team as both an Exercise Therapist and an administrator.
Thomas is our Senior Exercise Therapist. He graduated from the University of Guelph, with a Bachelors of sc. honours degree in Human Kinetics. For the past 2 years Thomas has worked in rehabilitation with a variety of patient injuries and conditions. Thomas enjoys challenging his patients to reach their goals and maximize potential. In his free time, Thomas loves to hike and play sports such as hockey and volleyball.
Stephanie has been in the healthcare field for over 17 years, which include 13 years in a multi-disciplinary pain management environment. Along with her extensive experience in clinic management and customer service, Stephanie brings with her a relentless passion for patient care and rehabilitation. Outside of work she enjoys being a mom, reading, travelling and spending time with family and friends. Stephanie will be joining our team as a Clinic Manager.
Meagan is a Certified Athletic Therapist. She obtained a degree in Athletic Therapy with high honours from Sheridan College.
Prior to attending Sheridan College Meagan graduated with distinction from the University of Guelph-Humber receiving a degree in Kinesiology and diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion. Throughout her education she has gained valuable skills and experience working with athletes at a variety of levels and ages through internships with Toronto FC Academy and Toronto FC II as well as athletes in the OUA and OCAA.
Meagan currently serves as one of the Athletic Therapists with the Canadian National Soccer Team at the Junior Men’s level. She was a part of the medical staff for the CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship (2017) and served as the lead Athletic Therapist at the CONCACAF Boys Under-15 Championship (2017). As a Certified Athletic Therapist Meagan is trained in both the assessment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries ranging from minor sprains to post-operative rehabilitation.
Meagan’s drive and passion for helping people get back to their daily lives not just pain free but stronger than when they started their rehabilitation has led to her completing a variety of continuing education courses. This has allowed her to continue growing as a Therapist and ensure that her clients get the best care possible.
Emily is one our clinic’s Kinesiologists. She graduated from Western University with an honours specialization in kinesiology. She has worked in a clinical setting for the past two years and has a passion for helping patients through specific exercise programs tailored to their rehabilitation goals. Away from the clinic, Emily enjoys watching sports, travelling, and horseback riding.
Joy graduated from Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy from Massage Therapy program. Joy has a very strong understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy and has vast experience in both hospitals and clinical settings. Her patient care focus thus far been on orthopedic sports rehabilitation and motor vehicle accident rehabilitation.
Joy’s primary goal is to decrease the pain of patients and improve their quality of life. She is well versed in Swedish massage as well as various techniques such as myofascial trigger point release, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching, and Swedish lymphatic drainage. She’s currently in the Traditional Chinese Medicine program at Humber College to pursue her interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The McKenzie Method of MDT
‘The McKenzie Method of MDT is a reliable assessment process intended for all musculoskeletal problems, including pain in the back, neck and extremities (i.e., shoulder, knee, ankle etc.), as well as issues associated with sciatica, sacroiliac joint pain, arthritis, degenerative disc disease, muscle spasms and intermittent numbness in hands or feet.
